Passport
TL;DR
Passport is an end-to-end internationalization solution that helps brands sell globally by combining international logistics, localization services, financial + regulatory compliance, and software.
What's the backstory?
Alex Yancher was previously co-founder and COO of Lynks, a shopping service that let international customers buy US products. He was responsible for setting up a warehouse that could fulfill any product to any country. Through this experience, he learned firsthand the pain and complexity of global shipping.
Through an incubator program, Alex met Aaron Schwartz, founder of Modify Watches and an early mover in the D2C space.
The two teamed up to form Passport, with a mission to make global shipping easy for any brand.
The company's initial offering was simple: print a shipping label through Passport and deliver anywhere in the world. Under the hood, Passport managed a complex network of international consolidators and carriers, while remaining 'asset-light' themselves.
On top of the shipping infrastructure, they began to build software to improve the experience for international customers — door-to-door tracking, currency and language localization, duties & tax calculations, seller of record and tax compliance services, etc.
Eventually, they did acquire assets, setting up 3 consolidation centers in LA, Chicago, and New Jersey.
The company has also made a couple of significant acquisitions — parcel consolidator Access Worldwide in 2021, and international CX and fulfillment provider Brand Access in 2025.
Today, the company is one of the top cross-border platform, serving thousands of global ecommerce companies.
